Baking with Steam
There are a lot of ways to generate steam in the home oven. This is one way that I found which I feel is the easiest. Add your comments below and share your own methods of generating steam in the home oven for baking bread.

Note: I no longer pre-heat to 500F and then turn the oven down to 450F for the bake. My new oven requires me to leave the oven temp at 480F for the whole bake. So experiment with what temperatures work best for your set up. I also now leave my dough in for 16 – 17 minutes covered and then an additional 16-25 minutes uncovered. I find I like a darker loaf with a crisper crumb.
